Have Exhange 2010 installed. (SP1 has not been installed yet) We currently have a DB that we are having major issues with. We are in the process of moving users (1000+) from this db to multiple dbs. DAG is not functioning at this time with this db. Because db will not truncate files, backup is not working either. So, basically we are in a rush to get users moved. I have moved approximately moved 150+ accounts. Event viewer has the following warnings for each of these users: Mailbox cleanup could not completely remove the mailbox for user /o=###/ou=Exchange Administrative Group /cn=Recipients/cn=username (Root Fid #-#######) following mailbox removal. Encountered error 0xfffffae8. Should this message continue to persist for the same mailbox, it may be indicative of a problem that requires further investigation. Unfortanately, this same db crashed recently. We were able to get the db mounted (barely) with help of Microsoft Technical support and days of unsuccessfully trying!! I CAN NOT dismount this db. I am pretty sure it will not mount again. However, I am able to move the accounts right now and users are working (using their accounts). They have not noticed any impact. My question is: Can I continue to move the accounts from this db to several others and disregard these warnings? After all users are moved, I was going to dismount and DELETE this db. Is that going to impact our organization since this db is severely corrupted. I have logs in this db dating back to 2/9 (just to give you an idea). All other dbs we have are current. Please advise! I would keep moving the users off that DB. The error usually mean that the cleanup agent cannot clean everything from the corrupted DB for each of the user. I would make a file backup of the DB and logs every time the move of the mailboxes is completed. How was the DB repaired? eseutil /p ?

Yes, I believe so. We used a number of combination eseutil / commands. To check health of db after restored, eseutil /mh was used. Thanks for your reply. I am continuing with user moves for now. irma.

How's the move going? I would suggest to run a backup of the DB everyday after you move the mailboxes for the day. I would suggest to create more than 2 DBs because it will at least spread the load and also prevent this from happening again.

Michael/Evan, Update- I've created several mailbox databases and configured the copy (DAG) successfully. All users have been moved to different mailboxes EXCEPT one user. When I tried to move that user, it says "Failed" for status under Move Request. I am not sure if I should remove move request and try again. Error reads: Error: MapiExceptionCallFailed:IExchangeFastTransferEx.FinishMdbEventsImport failed (hr=0x80004005, ec=-2147467259)Diagnostic context: Lid: 62565 However, after moving the 1000+ accounts, the corrupted db is still at 661 GB. Should it be this way? I am planning to dismount this db very soon. However, since I've moved 1000+ users, this should not affect them, right? Please advise if you have a minute. Thanks Irma.

@Irma 1. The physical size of the database will remain the same. Unless a offline defrag is performed. I wouldn't bother as you're going to get rid of this. 2. After moving the users, off the mailbox databse, this should no effect anu users, all you have done is move from one database to another. 3. I would try to move the users again. Sukh

I agree with Sukh828 about the disk space. It does not free up until to delete it. As for the mailbox that cannot be moved. I would suggest take full control of the mailbox and use Outlook to pst it out. This way you can eliminate and find out which email or emails is corrupted and prevent the mailbox from moving.
